Gladstone, Oregon - The 2024 MicroGolf Scramble kicked off its 11th edition on September 20 at The Children’s Course | First Tee – Greater Portland.
20 teams participated with over 60 golfers taking part in this fun event that keeps on giving.
The golf tournament was a three-person scramble at the nine-hole, par 3 course with microbrews, dinner, contests, raffle, and awards ceremony where players had a three-club limit for the 18-hole event.
The event raises money for The Children’s Course | First Tee – Greater Portland which helps support the programs they deliver to engage and empower kids and youth across Portland and Eugene.
“We currently deliver programs at four additional sites other than The Children’s Course which is our headquarters and programming hub,” Paul Herschell, Program Director of First Tee - Greater Portland said. “These sites are the Colwood Golf Center, Glendoveer Golf Course, Topgolf Hillsboro and Fiddler’s Green Golf Center in Eugene.”
The programs impacted by the MicroGolf Scramble include Discovery Golf for 5- and 6-year-old golfers, First Tee age-based classes for kids ages 7-18, First Tee National Schools program, PGA Junior league, and girls only golf classes as part of the LPGA USGA Girls Golf program.
First Tee programs focus on building character and instilling life-enhancing values through the game of golf. The programs are centered on being a Game Changer which focuses on five key commitments: pursuing goals, growing through challenge, collaborating with others, building a positive self-identity, and using good judgment.
Other programs include the Campbell Caddie Academy which trains youth caddies, helps place them at local country clubs, and supports their progress including those pursuing the highly competitive Chick Evans Scholarship.
Corporate sponsors also supported the MicroGolf Scramble with the title sponsor Ferguson Wellman Capital Management, Anheuser-Busch as the presenting and official beverage sponsor, Barran Liebman LLP - Beverage Cart Sponsor, and Noho's Hawaiian Café was the dinner sponsor.
Between the different contests, raffles, and awards many contributions were made to The Children’s Course to help advance the mission of the course dedicated to providing positive youth development through learning facilities and educational programs.
Congratulations to everyone who participated and gave to a worthy cause for youth development through golf in Oregon.
