Beavers & Ducks Teams All in Action

Raya Nakao shot a 4-under 69 for the Beavers, while Duck Suvichaya Vinijchaitham shot a 2-under 70 in their respective tournaments

PORTLAND, OR - The Ducks women’s golf team was in action in Atlanta finishing third in the stroke-play round of the East Lake Cup on Monday at East Lake Golf Club.

The No. 4 ranked Oregon women's golf team will face LSU on Tuesday in a rematch of the 2024 NCAA Championships quarterfinals

The Ducks and Tigers will square off in the semifinals of the East Lake Cup, with the winner advancing to the championship match on Wednesday. Golf Channel will have live coverage of the action beginning at Noon PT on both days.

Oregon defeated LSU in the quarterfinals of last spring's NCAA Championships, advancing to the semifinals for the second time in three years. Sophomores Kiara Romero, Karen Tsuru and Ting-Hsuan Huang were part of that victory over LSU, and are joined by true freshmen Tong An and Suvichaya Vinijchaitham in this week's East Lake Cup lineup.

The Ducks finished third in the lone round of stroke play on Monday, shooting 6-over par. USC earned the top seed in match play at 6-under par, with LSU in second at even par and UCLA in fourth at 9 over.

Oregon was led by Vinijchaitham, who placed fourth individually with a 2-under 70. She made four total birdies, including three on the front nine, and was 2 under across her final 13 holes.

An shot a 2-over 74, and both Huang and Tsuru came in one shot behind at 75 to round out Oregon's counting scores.

Oregon and LSU will tee off beginning at 9:30 a.m. PT on Tuesday in the semifinals of the East Lake Cup. Golf Channel will have live coverage beginning at Noon PT.

Raya Nakao had eight birdies on her round for the Beavers competing in Kailua-Kona, Hawai’i in the first round of the Nanea Invitational on Monday.

The Beavers opened their final tournament of the fall season with a 6-over 298 at the par-73, 6,449-yard Nanea Golf Club and are tied for ninth place with 36 holes to play.

The second round of the three-day, 54-hole tournament begins at 10:30 a.m. PT on Tuesday and live scoring is available at this link.

Nakao’s eight birdies were the most on the day in the 60-player field. Nakao is tied for fourth place and only two shots behind a trio of golfers who finished with a 6-under 67.

Kyra Ly, a native of Portland, had four birdies and four bogeys to post an even-par 73 and continue a strong junior campaign.

The Ducks men’s golf team has three players in the top 15 after the first day of the Preserve Golf Club Collegiate in Carmel, California.

The Ducks as a team are tied for third place at 5-under, behind No. 15 UCLA (-10) and San Diego State (-18).

Eric Doyle is 5-under through 36 holes. Doyle shot a 2-under 70 in his first round of the day and sits in a tie for third.

Aiden Krafft is in a tie for ninth at 3-under, after shooting a 69 and 72 Monday.

Jay Gould-Healy is tied for 14th at 2-under after firing a a 67 (-5) in round one but a 75 in round two.

UO is part of the 12-team field that features a pair of top-15 teams and six squads ranked in the top 50 in the latest polls.

The Beavers men’s golf team is also competing at the Preserve Golf Club Collegiate and is led by Bradley Smolinski who shot a 1-under 71 in the first round.

Smolinski was one hole shy of completing the second round and will complete it Tuesday morning before the third and final round of play. He'll enter the day tied for 24th with a 1-over 141.

The third round ended due to darkness.

Rylan Johnson made five of his own and is one shot shy of Smolinski. He's at 2-over overall and was at 1-over in his second round of play with four holes to account for. Johnson is tied for 32nd.

Stanley Lin is tied for 42nd and is 4-over overall, four holes shy of finishing his second round. He opened the day with a 2-over 74.

All four teams are wrapping up their fall seasons with their events this week.
