Beavers, Ducks, Vikings All In Action Monday

Beaver Kyra Ly shot a 71, followed by a 67 (-5) under for a share of lead at Molly Collegiate Invitational

Today was a busy day on the golf course for Oregon college golf teams as the Ducks (Men & Women), Beavers, and Vikings were all competing around the country.

-OSU women’s golfer Kyra Ly tied her career-best round Monday at the Molly Collegiate Invitational in Seaside, California at Bayonet Golf Course by shooting a 5 under 67 in the second of two rounds played.

Ly, a junior from Portland, carded a 1-under 71 in the morning round before catching fire in the afternoon with a career best-tying 5-under 67. She’s tied for the individual lead with a 6-under 138 joining Paula Martin Sampedro of Stanford and Riana Mission of San Francisco at the top of the leaderboard.

The other time Ly posted a 5-under 67 was last season at the Meadow Club Invitational when she won a share of the individual title in the 36-hole event.

Ly has three career Top 10 finishes, all as a sophomore.

Sophomore Raya Nakao posted an even-par 72 in the second round, after opening with a 3-over 75, and is tied for 16th place with a 147.

The Beavers sit in eighth place as a team with 18 holes to play Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. Scoring can be followed live here at this link.

Keep an eye on Ly, a Portland native, as she makes a run at her second career victory.

-Oregon women's golf freshman Suvichaya Vinijchaitham is in fourth place overall after shooting 2-under par across 36 holes on Monday to kick off the Windy City Collegiate Classic at Westmoreland Country Club in Wilmette, Illinois.

The No. 8 Ducks currently sit in seventh place in the 15-team field at 15 over, finishing round one with an 11-over 299 before improving by seven strokes with a 4-over 292 in round two.

Vinijchaitham was Oregon's top performer in both rounds on Monday, firing an even-par 72 in round one before improving upon that with a 2-under 70 across the next 18 holes. The freshman has now shot par-or-better in four of her first five collegiate rounds.

Vinijchaitham is one of six players in the field under par entering Tuesday.

Sophomore Kiara Romero bounced back from a 5-over 77 in the opening round with a 1-under 71 in round two, and she is currently in 21st overall at 4-over par.

Sophomore Ting-Hsuan Huang posted a 1-over 73 in her first round of the season, followed by a 4-over 76 to close the day. Sophomore Karen Tsuru rounded out the counting scores with a 5-over 77 and a 3-over 75.

-Greyson Leach paced the Ducks men’s team shooting 70-72 in the first two rounds of the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational at Colonial Country Club on Monday in Fort Worth, Texas.

Leach is eyeing his third top-20 finish in as many tournaments to start the fall, sitting T19 after 26 holes in Texas. The senior opened the year with a T6 finish at the Sahalee Players Championship before finishing T19 a week ago at The Tindall.

The Ducks were in eighth place after 18 holes with a 5-over 285, but slipped four spots on the leaderboard following a second-round 294.

Eric Doyle shot 72-72 – 144 (+4) which is tied for 34th, while Jay Gould-Healy who made his season debut in the lineup shot a 71-74 (+5) which has him in a tie for 39th.

The individual medalist after tomorrow’s round will get an exemption into the 2025 Charles Schwab Challenge.

Oregon will wrap up the final 18 holes of play at Colonial Country Club on Tuesday. GolfStat will provide live scoring.

-Tannica Porter posted a pair of two-over par 74 scores in the opening two rounds of the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational on Monday at Tacoma Country and Golf Club for the PSU women’s golf team.

Porter has shot exactly 74 in each of her past four rounds.

As a team, the Vikings shot 313-305=618 over the first 36 holes in a tournament hosted by Seattle University. They are 16th among 17 teams competing. The final round takes place on Tuesday morning.

Porter, a senior, had a solid day on the course as she continues to be the Vikings scoring leader at four-over par 148. She is tied for 39th among 97 players in the tournament.

Junior Payten Shimizu is tied for 79th at 81-76=157. Sophomore Momo Udom and senior Avery Kageyama each shot 158 and are tied for 83rd.
