CHANDLER, Arizona – Gigi Stoll, the Tigard, Oregon native has made waves early on the LPGA Tour season, with an impressive start to the season.
After her rookie season where she played in 10 events in 2024, Stoll has had three top 35 finishes in the first three events of her season. Included in that was a T-34 at the Founders Cup, T-17 at the Blue Jay LPGA where she was paired in the final grouping and most recently at T-33 (12-under) at the Ford Championship.
“I have been working hard on all aspects of the game but really focusing on chipping and putting,” Stoll said. “After last year, I felt like I could shave a few shots in tournament play if I tightened up my short game and it has been helping so far in the 2025 season. I feel like the hard work is paying off and my game is trending in a really nice direction to start the year.
“Getting off to a good start has definitely given me some more confidence on the course. I earned my way into the final group at the Blue Bay Championship in China and it was fantastic experience knowing that I can hang on the LPGA Tour with the best of them. It’s really nice to see my game alongside the best in the world and I know I have the ability to win.”
Stoll sits in 49th place in the Race to CME Globe which is a season-long points competition in which tour members accumulate points in every official LPGA Tournament to gain entry into the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship.
“I have been hitting the ball really well as of late,” Stoll said. “My iron play has been a key factor in my game, giving myself a lot of birdie opportunities by hitting shots close to pins. My course management has also been very strong as I have been making very few unnecessary mistakes by playing smart.”
Stoll had 19 birdies in the most recent Ford Championship which was held March 27-30 in Chandler, Arizona.
She recorded her lowest round in an LPGA Tour event this year, a 68 in Round 4 of the Founders Cup presented by U.S. Virgin Islands and in Round 3 of the Blue Bay LPGA.
In her second season, Stoll has earned full exemption into all the LPGA Tour events after finishing T5 at LPGA Final Qualifying to re-earn LPGA Tour status for 2025.
“It’s nice to know I have a full schedule under my belt this year on the LPGA,” Stoll said. “Last year, only getting 10 starts on the LPGA I felt like I was playing catch up and I felt the need to press courses and make something happen. This year, with the start I have had I should gain entry into majors and events that can make a big difference in my standings.
“As of now, I will be playing all the events I gain entry into but the season is a marathon not a sprint and if I need a week off from an event I will take it.”
As the calendar, turns to April the first major tournament of the LPGA Tour season arrives on April 24-27 at the Chevron Championship in Woodlands, Texas at The Club at Carlton Woods, Jack Nicklaus Signature Course.
There, Stoll will be looking to make another splash as she makes her LPGA Tour major debut.
“I am excited to compete in my first Major as a professional at the Chevron Championship in Texas in a few weeks,” Stoll said. “I will be playing in the JM Eagle the week prior in preparation for the major Championship. I look forward to being in Texas, I feel like difficult course set ups typically fit my game and it should be an exciting week.”
