Portland State Women's Golf Improving In Fall Season
Vikings have played two tournaments, with another tournament starting Monday
Portland, Oregon - The Portland State Women’s golf team is making its way through the fall season showing improvement along the way.

With four rounds in the 70s, Portland State turned in its best score of the fall so far, posting a team total of 303 in the final round of the Eagles Invitational at Circling Raven Golf Club on Monday, September 23.
The Vikings completed the 36-hole tournament with a 317-303=620 score to place 12th.
Viking senior Tannica Porter had matching 74s in her two rounds at the Eagles Invitational in Worley, Idaho. She shot 148 overall and tied for 22nd place among 79 golfers competing.
Juniors, Payten Shimizu and Bayler Brundage, greatly improved their second-round scores with 75s. Shimizu tied for 49th with 80-75=155. Shimiu has seven birdies through four rounds this fall.
Brundage came in with 82-75=157 and tied for 54th.
Also improving from the first round was sophomore Momo Udom. She posted 81-79=160 and tied for 65th.
Tannica Porter's 148 total ties for 10th-best score by a Viking in a 36-hole event in PSU history. Porter has eight birdies through four rounds this fall season and has a 77.00 scoring average.
Portland State's next tournament is the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational, hosted by Seattle University, in Tacoma, WA on Sept. 30-Oct. 1 at Tacoma Country Club. It will PSU's fourth straight season competing in the tournament. There will be 17 teams competing in the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational
PSU will be at full strength next week, and in fact, have six players available as newcomer Avery Kageyama has joined the team and begun practice.
Cynthia Valerie Ong missed the Eagles Invitational with a minor back injury but is expected to play. Ong has a 77.00 scoring average through two rounds this fall including five birdies.
Portland State's final tournament of the fall comes on Oct. 14-15, and it will be a big one, as PSU hosts a home event for the first time since 2019.
The Portland State Invitational will be a 54-hole tournament at Columbia Edgewater Country Club and feature 10 Division I teams.
